Arriving at Brussels Airport (website)

Several modes of transport are available:
By train:

At the airport, follow the signs to the platforms (level -2).

Travelling by train (NMBS) (website)
Take the train to Gent (Station Gent-Sint-Pieters / Gand-Saint-Pierre)
Find below an example of the trains in the afternoon of November 4. The connection is frequent.

The cost to travel from Brussels International Airport to Gent-Sint-Pieters is 9,20€ (one way).
Tickets can be bought in the train station between 6:40 and 21:50. Tickets can also be bought at all times from the ticket machines.

Not all trains go directly to Gent. Some have a connection in Brussels. Brussels Central Station is the best station to make this connection.

Tip: Tourism and sightseeing outside Gent is a possibility too. During the weekends (Saturday and Sunday) a weekend ticket to Bruges is only 3,10€ (6,20€ both ways).

Travelling by bus 'De Lijn' (website)

Buy upfront a multiple ride ticket out of the ticket machine for 8€. This is the cheapest way to use public transports (bus / trams). One ride will only cost 0,80€ and gives you (and your fellow travellers) 10 rides.
* Buying a 10 ride ticket on the bus will cost you 10€ (1€ / ride)
* Buying a single bus ticket on the bus will cost 1,60€.
* Buying a single bus ticket out of the ticket machine will cost 1,20€
(these tickets are valid for all of Flanders, so if you want to visit Bruges/Antwerp and want to take a bus / tram over there, the same ticket could be used.

This airport is less expensive, but it takes longer to get to Gent.
