We are pleased to announce that the 34th World Othello Championship
will be held in Rome, Italy, November 10 - 13, 2010.
The
venue for the WOC will be The Idea Hotel Roma in Rome, Italy.
The
Tournament will be sponsored by Anjar Co., Mattel Inc. and MegaHouse
Corp., and our hosts will be the Italian Othello Federation.
The
Tournament Directors will be Carlo Alami and Donato Barnaba, and
will be assisted by Benkt Steentoft and Emmanuel Lazard.
The
Idea Hotel
Roma is set in a business and residential area is well suited
for the WOC. There is a free shuttle to the Ponte Mammolo Metro
Station. We will enjoy the hotel's conference facilities for the
actual tournament play. For those interested in staying at this
hotel, we have reserved a block of rooms at discounted prices.

In
addition to the cash prizes, trophies will be awarded to the First
through Fourth Place Winners, and team trophies will go to each
member of the winning country. The Champion will have his or her
name permanently inscribed on the rotating Othello Trophy, alongside
the previous 33 World Othello Champions.
The Welcome Reception will be held at the Idea Hotel Roma on Wednesday,
November 10th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. In keeping with tradition,
first round pairings will be drawn at the Reception. Lunch will
be served at the Tournament site for all players and official
guests on Thursday, November 11 and Friday, November 12, and on
Saturday, December 13 for the finalists and working staff.
